We successfully installed the Saving Rain Downspout Diverter on 2 large (4″x4″ square) commercial buildings this spring, and they are working great.  Here is a photo of the installation at Monona Public Library, with a self-watering rain planter to catch the rain and water annuals automatically, while directing overflow into a rain garden…

This Self-watering rain planter was made using:

1. a DIY RainBench liner cut in half,

2. a complete DIY RainBench kit,

3. exterior grade plywood (2 sheets, painted inside and out),

4.  cedar 2x2s, 2x4s and cedar tongue and groove.

But we’re getting off track!  The diverter fits and works great, and can even be painted to match your building.

I witnessed this diverter operating during a severe downpour and took a video of it.  It was overflowing somewhat, but has not been modified at all, right out of the box.

That video is up on YouTube, with more instructional ones as well.
